The Lynn Teachers Union, Local 1037, was granted a Charter from the American Federation of Teachers on April 21, 1949. For over fifty-five years the Union has proudly represented the teachers, paraprofessionals and therapists in the City of Lynn.
The Union continues to work for improved benefits for its members along with supporting professionalism and a sense of cooperation with school officials, parents and the community. Our members work tirelessly for the betterment of the Lynn Public Schools. We recognize that the education of the approximately 15,000 students, entrusted to our care, is a daunting and challenging task. Lynn teachers are ready to take on and accomplish this task each and every day.
Over 1600 members in three separate bargaining units, teachers, paraprofessionals and therapists are represented by the Union.
AFT Massachusetts is our state affiliate. Local 1037 is also affiliated with the AFL-CIO and the North Shore Labor Council.
Membership meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, September through June, at the Union Office at 679 Western Avenue, Lynn, Massachusetts 01905.
All members are encouraged to attend meetings which begin at 3:00 p.m.
